Hannaford's Rutland is the closest major supermarket to the house.

The RAFC has lots of local Vermont offerings and is within approximately 15 minutes of the house.

Shaw's Ludlow is the closest major supermarket when coming directly from Boston. It was severely damaged in the Summer 2023 floods and reopened as of Summer 2024.
Wine & Cheese

The Crooked Ram is our favorite restaurant, and it has a small but mighty wine shop on site. In the warmer months, the indoor dining room is closed except for special events, and The Yard is open, a beautiful outdoor space with a full bar and specializing in wood-fired pizza.

Crowley has been producing delicious Vermont cheddar since 1824. Watch as cheese is produced, and sample approximately 15-20 different cheeses made in-house, including a couple options for those who are lactose intolerant. The shop also has crackers, condiments, and maple syrup.

Plymouth is America’s oldest cheddar producer. We haven’t yet visited, but have heard good things.

The Depot in downtown Ludlow has a fantastic wine and cheese selection, along with all the pairings needed for making an excellent cheeseboard. You’ll receive honest and educated advice about the products to help make the best choices.

Bardwell was established in 1864 and produces artisanal cheeses.

Green Mountain has maple syrup, honey, and local Vermont treats.

Mad Tom offers apple-picking Labor Day to mid-October.

Approximately ten minutes from the house (a few minutes following the road past Elfin Lake) is Mountain Meadows Farm, a wonderful local farm stand open 10:30-5:00 June-October. They offer fruit, vegetables, pickled items, and condiments (no meat or dairy). Cash or credit cards accept
